The Professional Women's Hockey League unveiled names and logos for all six franchises entering its second season, including Canadian teams the Toronto Sceptres, Montreal Victoire and Ottawa Charge.
Sceptres forward Natalie Spooner expressed enthusiasm for the new name, stating, 'We have the most amazing fans so for them to now be able to come out and support us... it’s just even more exciting.'
Spooner elaborated on the name 'Sceptres,' stating, "When I think of a sceptre I think of something powerful and strong, and royals carry it... we’ll really be able to rally around that."
The league's executive Hefford mentioned 'We wanted the names to be bold, strong and confident,' highlighting the intent behind the new branding as part of their league's identity.
