This CEO put his tech startup between the coasts - Marketplace
Briefly

Whisper Aero, an aerospace startup founded by Mark Moore, saw its early employees move into a resort in Cumberland County, Tennessee, during the pandemic. Although risky, this arrangement encouraged collaboration amidst remote work trends. Moore, previously with Uber Elevate, purchased the 20-acre property to create a unique work environment. Despite the picturesque setting, recruiting talent became challenging due to Cumberland's aging population, which is characteristic of a retirement destination rather than a tech hub, eventually leading Whisper Aero to relocate to downtown Crossville.
"There was a big risk where we could have ended up hating each other," said Mark Moore, the company's founder and CEO. "All the engineers just moved in, and we started Whisper Aero."
Moore emphasized that Cumberland County is not the typical environment for tech startups, saying, "We were sequestered kind of out in the boonies."
