The Department of Transportation is addressing a significant gap in protected bike lanes on Sixth Avenue, which will impact both cyclists and vehicle traffic.
DOT's project manager highlighted that cyclists will have to switch sides of the road twice due to heavy car traffic and unusual parking needs from local firefighters.
With 469 reported crashes and numerous injuries along the project corridor in the last five years, the area has witnessed 'carmageddon' leading to pressing transportation challenges.
