Rashawn Marquez, 34, was charged with attempted murder, felony assault, and weapon possession after stabbing a driver during a road rage incident in Franklin Square. Following a crash on the Southern State Parkway, Marquez followed the 20-year-old victim to a home, where he allegedly stabbed him multiple times, causing severe injuries. Prosecutors indicated the victim sustained a neck wound and a significant gash that necessitated extensive medical treatment. Marquez fled the scene, leaving evidence behind. His legal representation argued he was attacked first and was defending himself.
Marquez, during the incident, stated, "He hit me with a bat. I just protected myself... [he] came out of the car, tried to hit me with a bat."
Prosecutors described the victim's injuries, stating he suffered a neck wound and a 7-inch gash to his muscle, requiring 200 stitches.
