LaSorted's really nails the old-school vibe, and the food is delicious. Budonoki is really something special. But for overall 'oh, thank god this is here now' appeal, I think I lean Bia Om / Sunset Beer Garden in Echo Park.

Bernhard Mairinger's Lustig in Culver City hasn't gotten enough attention or recognition. He and his team are doing impressive work. Get the veal wiener schnitzel with lingonberry chutney.
The most fantastic, irreverent reinvention of the original Pa Ord location; I could eat there every day and never tire of it. Also Linden, in Hollywood, which was as joyful an experience as my colleague Mona Holmes described.
