Disney Plus is getting vertical video
"Disney Plus will be getting a vertical video feed later this year, Disney announced as part of its Global Tech & Data Showcase for advertisers at CES, Deadline reports. According to a Disney announcement cited by Deadline, the company's goal is to "explore its use in a variety of ways across categories, and content types, for a personalized and dynamic feed. That will include expanding across news and entertainment, turning Disney+ into a must-visit daily destination.""
"Based on an interview with a Disney exec, Deadline reports that vertical video in the app could include "original short-form programming, repurposed social clips, refashioned scenes from longer-form episodic or feature titles or a combination." Last year, Disney added a vertical video tab called "Verts" to its majorly overhauled ESPN app. Netflix has also been testing a feed of vertical video featuring clips from Netflix shows and movies - and it's not the first time the company has experimented with the format."
Disney Plus will add a vertical video feed later this year as part of its Global Tech & Data Showcase announcement for advertisers at CES. The company plans a personalized, dynamic feed used across categories and content types, including expanded news and entertainment to drive daily engagement. Vertical clips could be original short-form programming, repurposed social clips, refashioned scenes from longer episodic or feature titles, or combinations of these formats. The move follows similar experiments, including ESPN's 'Verts' vertical tab and Netflix testing a vertical clip feed featuring show and movie moments.
