Valle d'Aosta University Campus / Mario Cucinella Architects
Briefly

MCA's project in Aosta aims to repurpose the Testafochi Barracks into a university campus, promoting cultural activities and student engagement. The design respects the historical layout while transforming the area into a vibrant educational hub for about 2000 students. Inspired by icebergs, the architecture connects with the alpine landscape, enhancing energy performance and establishing a dialogue with the surrounding environment. This contemporary approach seeks to integrate green spaces within the city, creating a cohesive cultural atmosphere that benefits both the university and the community.
The project for the new university campus in Aosta exemplifies how it is possible to conceive of contemporary architecture that collaborates with the landscape and the climate.
Our choice of the iceberg as an inspiration for the project is not an arbitrary or merely formal gesture; its colors and features establish a strong link with the snow-covered alpine landscape.
