A fire broke out in a Queens apartment building around 2:39 a.m. on January 20, resulting in eight injuries and a significant firefighting response.
The FDNY dispatched 69 firefighters and 12 units to tame the fire. Evacuated residents watched the efforts unfold from the snow-covered streets.
The blaze originated in the basement of 32-79 32nd St., in Astoria, and was brought under control by approximately 4:06 a.m on Monday.
FDNY fire marshals are currently investigating the cause of the incident, which left residents fleeing into the frigid conditions.
