Off-duty LAS paramedic who saved fellow Spurs fan meets his grateful daughters
Briefly

On December 19, paramedic Stefan Soler saved 68-year-old Keith Calnon's life during a train incident where Mr. Calnon was in cardiac arrest. Soler, traveling home from a match, quickly recognized the urgency of the situation, performed CPR, and coordinated with fellow passengers and an off-duty police officer to call for an ambulance and retrieve a defibrillator. After administering shocks, Mr. Calnon regained consciousness, highlighting the effectiveness of timely intervention by trained professionals. Reflecting on his career choice, Soler recalled a similar experience with his grandfather, ensuring a poignant connection to his lifesaving efforts.
It was a once-in-a-lifetime moment, especially given it led to such a good outcome for Keith and his family, and happened at that time of year when we are all coming together with our loved ones.
I found my grandpa and called for help. The ambulance crew revived him and he lived for another 20 years or so.
That is why I chose to pursue this career. So now it really is amazing to have this full circle moment I get to be that clinician for someone else.
It is crazy to think how differently it might have ended. We’re so grateful to Stefan, the off-duty police officer, and the rest of the ambulance team.
