Northern Calif. woman, 97, found dead in grandson's car trunk, police say
Briefly

A 97-year-old grandmother was discovered deceased in a vehicle's trunk after concerned neighbors called for a welfare check when they hadn't seen her for several days. The woman’s grandson, Bryan Wiggins, 40, and his girlfriend, Dozsha Beckwith, 31, are in custody. Upon investigation, deputies found signs of possible foul play within the home, which appeared ransacked. Detectives suspect Wiggins murdered his grandmother after she refused to allow them to stay with her. Wiggins is charged with murder, while Beckwith faces charges of burglary and accessory after the fact.
Wiggins allegedly told the deputies that they'd just missed his grandmother, who had taken an Uber to visit her son in an assisted living facility.
Detectives believe Wiggins and Beckwith showed up at the woman's door asking for a place to stay. When the woman turned them down, Wiggins beat her to death.
