Parque El Jagüey, developed by awa arquitectos and Laboratorio Regional de Arquitectura in Atlatlahucan, Morelos, seeks to revive the traditional jagüey - an important water collection technique in Mexico - through a modern public space. This project re-establishes ecological and educational significance in the region by transforming the last existing jagüey into a contemplative area designed for both recreation and learning. Incorporating endemic vegetation and an observatory, it highlights the importance of sustainable water management while promoting an appreciation for Mexican cultural heritage.
Parque El Jagüey honors Mexico's traditional water management techniques, transforming an obsolete artificial reservoir into a contemporary educational and ecological public space.
Designed as a hub for recreation and education, Parque El Jagüey integrates restored water reservoirs with endemic biodiversity, fostering public engagement with history and sustainability.
