KFC has officially abandoned its commitment in the UK to improve chicken welfare by using slower-growing breeds, citing inadequate supply and market conditions.
Ruth Edge stated at a conference that KFC’s earlier ambition to use slower-growing breeds by 2026 was 'not achievable,' reflecting the challenges in the current market.
The fast food chain reported that only 1% of its chickens currently come from slower-growing breeds, despite previous promises made in 2019.
