Italian police have recently seized over 2,100 forged artworks worth around 200 million euros, attributed to renowned artists including Picasso, Warhol, and Banksy.
The operation is viewed as one of the largest protective measures for Banksy’s works, with the chief prosecutor emphasizing its significance in safeguarding his unique artistic contributions.
Investigators uncovered multiple forgery workshops across Italy and Europe, exposing a network of around 38 suspects engaged in the illegal art trade.
The suspects aimed to enhance their credibility by organizing exhibitions and publishing catalogs, illustrating the lengths they went to sell their forged pieces.
