Research indicates that most families will have their Christmas lights on for about six hours a day during the festive season, which can incur significant costs.
Based on the October 2024 energy price cap of 24.50p kWh, running two strings of Christmas lights would cost approximately £3.58 a month, a marked increase from 2014.
The spokesperson from Saxo highlighted the rise in energy costs, noting that despite the cap drop to £1,717, consumers face nearly 60% higher prices for electricity.
In addition to lights, decorations like inflatables can significantly raise energy bills, consuming an average of 140 watts, making it essential to monitor usage.
