Halo developers shelve own game development engine for Unreal
Briefly

The developers of the Halo franchise, now Halo Studios, are transitioning from their proprietary Slipspace Engine to Unreal Engine 5 to enhance game development efficiency and creativity.
Elizabeth van Wyck, COO of Halo Studios, stated, 'The way we made Halo games before doesn't necessarily work as well for the way we want to make games for the future,' highlighting the necessity to adapt to player expectations.
Chris Matthews, Studio Art Director, emphasized Unreal Engine 5's capabilities, mentioning 'Nanite and Lumen offer us an opportunity to do that in a way that the industry hasn't seen before,' indicating a groundbreaking potential in game design.
Switching to Unreal Engine 5 is expected to speed up the development cycles at Halo Studios, enabling multiple teams to develop different games simultaneously, enhancing project throughput.
