An overnight blaze at an apartment above a post office led to three individuals, including two children, being hospitalized for smoke inhalation and burns.
Fire crews were able to rescue one of the children and an adult, while another child was found unconscious. Thankfully, all three are now recovering.
The Brookdale Post Office, impacted by water damage due to firefighting efforts, is closed temporarily, redirecting mail to the Boulder Creek Post Office.
The cause of the fire is under investigation as the neighborhood expresses relief that more lives were not lost in the tragic event.
