Steuart Smith announced his retirement from the Eagles after 24 years due to health concerns stemming from Parkinsonism. At 72, Smith expressed his regret over the decision but emphasized it was necessary for his well-being. His bandmate, Dan Henley, praised Smith's contributions to the band, calling him an integral part of their musical family. Chris Holt will take over Smith's role in the band, having already performed with the Eagles during their Las Vegas residency. Smith originally joined the Eagles in 2001, replacing guitarist Don Felder.
Smith, 72, said in a statement, "It is with profound regret that, due to performance issues associated with my recently diagnosed Parkinsonism, I find that I must bow out of my role with the Eagles while I can still do so gracefully."
Henley, 77, stated, "The Eagles will be forever grateful for the extraordinary talents that he brought to both our recordings and live performances. Steuart will be greatly missed, but he will always be a part of our musical family."
