On October 9, 2023, Tafari Thompson-Mintah was hit and killed in Orpington by a car driven after a dispute involving Aaron Conway, whose daughter had dated Tafari.
Conway and Barnes used a stolen vehicle to chase Tafari at high speed, ultimately causing him to be thrown off his moped and suffer fatal injuries.
Detective Chief Inspector Martin Thorpe stated, 'Conway encouraged Barnes to drive recklessly, playing a part in the cruel and senseless ending of a young boy's life.'
The court sentenced Barnes to life imprisonment with a minimum of 25 years, while Conway received a 16-year sentence for his involvement in the incident.
