Costco announced it will revert to Coca-Cola products in its food courts after serving Pepsi since 2013, sparking mixed reactions online. Customers expressed excitement over the return of Coca-Cola, especially regarding its pairing with the popular $1.50 hot dog and drink combo. Conversely, some customers preferred Pepsi, emphasizing the nostalgic combination it provided with Costco’s food items. This switch has reignited debates on the best soda choice at Costco, reflecting the brand loyalty of its members. The decision was confirmed by CEO Ron Vachris during a shareholder meeting, signaling ongoing competition between Coca-Cola and Pepsi.
"This summer, we will be converting our food court fountain business back over to Coca-Cola," Vachris said, confirming the return at the company’s annual shareholder meeting.
"That sucks, love coke and Pepsi, but Costco hotdog/pizza and Pepsi go hand in hand," one TikToker said, highlighting the loyalty some have for their preferred brand.
At the time, then-VP of food services Alan Bubitz told BevNET: "You're not going to be able to please everybody. It's our job to preserve the integrity of the price point."
While some eagerly await the retro shift to Coke, others lament the loss of Pepsi, sparking a discussion on which soda pairs best with Costco's food.
