ChargePoint's VP of product management Steve Farrell explained that the cable employs patent-pending technology incorporating strategically placed steel, enhancing security without drastically affecting usability.
Farrell highlighted the cables' testing against tools such as wirecutters and bolt cutters, asserting the new design significantly increases the effort required for cable severance.
ChargePoint is also launching 'ChargePoint Protect,' which transforms EV stations into alarm systems that detect tampering in real-time and notify stall owners.
The cables will be available for licensing by mid-2025, indicating ChargePoint's commitment to collaborating with other OEMs to address rising incidents of vandalism.
