Calif. mother, 60, arrested on suspicion of killing her baby in 1994
Briefly

On Dec. 3, 1994, a man collecting cans discovered the body of a newborn in a shopping bag at an unofficial dump site, initiating a decades-long investigation.
With modern forensic techniques, DNA evidence linked Pamela Ferreyra, now 60, to the baby boy she allegedly abandoned, leading to her recent arrest.
Ferreyra, who previously worked as an in-home health care provider, was taken into custody by Monterey County Sheriff's Department on a count of murder.
Assistant District Attorney Matt L'Heureux remarked on the cases of such crimes, noting that many perpetrators believe they escaped justice, unaware that the long arm of the law still reaches them.
