Boycotts Over Meta's Controversial Policy Changes Haven't Moved the Needle

The company boasts over 3 billion daily active users across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger. The network effect, where users stick with a platform because their social circles use it, limits the likelihood of users abandoning these apps. Business interest continues, as Meta's ad targeting capabilities remain superior, and there's even evidence of increased in-app purchases since the policy changes.
After looking at the download and revenue data for Meta's social apps, I was unable to detect any substantial or out-of-the-ordinary decline... In fact, in some cases there were increases.
It's hard to break free from network effects; if all your friends and family use WhatsApp, it's not so simple to ditch the app.
