Anthropic agrees to work with music publishers to prevent copyright infringement

In a court-approved stipulation, Anthropic has agreed to maintain its existing guardrails against outputs that reproduce copyrighted material owned by music publishers.

Anthropic's spokesperson emphasized that "Claude isn't designed to be used for copyright infringement, and we have numerous processes in place designed to prevent such infringement."

The music publishers involved, including Universal Music and ABKCO, continue to seek an injunction against Anthropic to prevent the use of unauthorized song lyrics.

While Anthropic has come to a partial agreement, the lawsuit remains unresolved as the music publishers aim to enforce stronger protections against copyright infringement.
