Amazon union in US authorises strike ahead of Christmas
Briefly

"The corporate elitists who run Amazon are leaving workers with no choice," said Teamsters General President Sean M O'Brien. "Amazon must be held accountable to workers and consumers alike. If workers are forced onto the picket line, Amazon will be striking itself."
Amazon spokesperson Eileen Hards stated, "The Teamsters have actively threatened, intimidated, and attempted to coerce Amazon employees and third-party drivers to join them, which is illegal" and criticized the union's claims.
Earlier this week, a congressional investigation led by Democrat senator Bernie Sanders concluded that the e-commerce giant pushes its US warehouse workers to fulfill orders at speeds that could cause high rates of injury.
Despite the mounting pressure and accusations about unsafe conditions at its warehouses, Amazon maintains that investigations against it are based on "wrong on the facts" and "selective, outdated information that lacks context and isn't grounded in reality."
