Don't Forget to Breathe-and Listen to Some Music
Briefly

In these stressful times, focusing on breathing combined with comforting music can provide a reset. As a music therapist, I observe the positive effects of simple breathing exercises in various settings. The article emphasizes a five-minute reset using mindfulness techniques that encourage individuals to breathe without needing sophisticated practices. Just sitting quietly and concentrating on natural breathing, while listening to music, can create a sense of calm and facilitate better emotional management during tough moments.
It really is amazing what a little breathing can do. Especially if you pair it with some music that you find comforting. Just taking a few minutes to simply sit and focus on your breathing can help.
When I'm facilitating group music therapy sessions, I generally start off with what I call a five-minute reset, which is based on mindfulness but is essentially just breathing and music.
The practice involves just breathing and listening, where you simply focus on your natural breathing, allowing yourself to reset without needing special techniques or equipment.
Listening to the right kind of music during this time can further enhance the relaxation response, as the auditory input pairs effectively with the calming nature of deep breaths.
