In its all-out effort to shed spring break crowds, the city of Miami Beach voted to keep visitors from using public parking garages and lots by raising the price to park to a $100 flat fee.
White city leaders and police forget that closing public garages may result in shutting out people of color, evoking the ugly racial history of discouraging Blacks from using Florida beaches.
