While more is better, even moderate amounts of exercise may reduce risk for common heart condition
Briefly

Adding an extra hour every week of physical activity may lower the chance of developing the most common type of irregular heartbeat by 11%, according to a new study.
The study used data from fitness trackers to objectively measure physical activity, revealing that those with increased activity were at lower risk for atrial fibrillation.
Study participants averaging 2.5 to 5 hours of exercise weekly showed a 60% lower risk of developing atrial fibrillation, while those exceeding 5 hours showed a 65% reduction.
Sean Heffron emphasized that even moderate exercise is sufficient for preventing atrial fibrillation, stating, 'Just keeping moderately active can, over time, add up to major benefits for maintaining a healthy heart.'
