Starting this season, the Phoenix Fire Department is immersing heatstroke victims in ice on the way to area hospitals, which could dramatically lower body temperature in minutes.
The heatstroke treatment has become standard equipment on all Phoenix fire department emergency vehicles, aiming to improve patient survivability by bringing critical patients back before reaching the emergency room doors.
