Overheard at Prebid Summit: Addressability problem 'really needs to be considered carefully'
Briefly

Opening keynote speaker Andrew Casale, president and CEO of Index Exchange, highlighted the challenges of privacy regulations stating, "We're fixated right now on Chrome's deprecation with third-party cookies... Some of the solutions being implemented to hedge off the potential signal loss... are (largely) probabilistic solutions that are dependent upon the IP address. I think that's something that really needs to be considered carefully." His comments underline how the evolving privacy landscape may render current tracking solutions ineffective.
Casale elaborated on the fragility of current advertising strategies in light of privacy changes: "Just as the third-party cookie and Android ID have been pegged for sunsetting as ad targeting tools, the IP address is probably going to be the next fall drop." He emphasizes the unpredictable nature of the advertising landscape as major tech changes prompt a reevaluation of traditional strategies.
