Horizon Media has committed to sustainability by shifting all programmatic campaigns to GreenPMPs starting May 2024. This approach leverages data from Scope3 to eliminate publishers that pose climate risks, leading to significant reductions in carbon emissions—51% for display campaigns and 57% for video. Over nine months, Horizon delivered 300 million impressions while avoiding 34 metric tons of carbon emissions. This proactive shift positions the advertising industry to potentially achieve net-zero emissions, despite trends of greenhushing among brands wary of backlash over climate initiatives.
"The advertising industry has a unique opportunity to become one of the first industries to reach net-zero emissions," said Frank Maguire, highlighting the crucial role of sustainable practices.
"Over the last nine months of using GreenPMPs, Horizon's display campaigns have emitted 51% fewer carbon emissions," showcasing the effectiveness of their new approach.
