"This feature helps you monitor how generative AI impacts your business by tracking user clicks, trending AI sources, and how this traffic compares to traditional channels like organic search."
Google Analytics 4 introduces an AI Assistant traffic measurement capability. Visits originating from recognized AI assistants are captured through a dedicated AI Assistant channel in Default Channel Group reports. When the referrer matches a recognized AI Assistant, the medium is automatically assigned the value “ai-assistant.” These visits are categorized under the “AI Assistant” channel group. Campaign names for this traffic are identified with the suffix “(ai-assistant).” The capability enables monitoring of generative AI impact by tracking user clicks, identifying trending AI sources, and comparing AI-driven traffic with traditional channels such as organic search.
