Creators on TikTok are facing an uncertain future as the platform could be banned in the U.S. in less than a year if ByteDance does not sell the company or if legal actions against the ban are unsuccessful.
The creator economy, which includes TikTok content creators, has become a massive industry estimated at $250 billion by Goldman Sachs, with expectations to double by 2027.
“There’s some of us kind of fell into this by mistake, and this is our job now,” said Lauren-Ashley Beck, highlighting the varying paths creators take in building their careers on TikTok.
