We know the sacrifice that our fans make when they travel across the world to support us home and away and we will never take it for granted. They are the best fans in the world. We also recognise that it was a lot of travelling for the fans who supported us in the freezing cold throughout a difficult evening for us on the pitch.
Newcastle United full-back Tino Livramento reportedly has his heart set on a transfer to Manchester City, which is expected to be his destination this summer. That's according to Keith Wyness, former Everton chief, as he spoke to Football Insider, with Newcastle expected to look to replace Livramento in the near future. The 23-year-old has performed well during his time at Newcastle, having long been regarded as a big prospect, dating back to his time in Chelsea's academy.
Not only did City manager Guardiola not agree with that decision, but he feels the Norwegian is being singled out too often. "He is the only striker in the world that makes more fouls than defenders do on him," Guardiola said. "That is his biggest attribute. That is really good. He is only the striker in my life that makes more fouls to defenders than defenders to him. I've never seen this."
Manchester City drew 1-1 with Brighton and Hove Albion midweek in the Premier League, suffering more dropped points. The Blues had already drawn their previous two league fixtures and needed a win ideally to keep the pressure on Arsenal, who are still to play this gameweek. Following injuries to Gvardiol and Dias, the lineup was a changed one. Donnarumma started in goal. Nunes, Khusanov, Alleyne, and Ake were the back four with O'Reilly being rested.
Manchester City are no strangers to using their wide City Football Group (CFG) links to sign promising young talents from around the world. CFG is the parent company that owns City, and fully owns or has an interest in another eleven clubs in Europe, North and South America, Australia and Asia, all of which sit in their multi-club system. Pep Guardiola's side sit, of course, at the top of this food chain and have used the system to strong effect in the past.
The Croatian defender sustained the injury in the second half of the 1-1 draw with Chelsea, and had to be substituted immediately. Gvardiol is likely to miss the remainder of the season, and his participation in this summer's World Cup is also in doubt. It comes as a major blow to Pep Guardiola, who is already missing a number of senior players through injury, whilst Rayan Ait-Nouri and Omar Marmoush are still on international duty.
