Los Angeles police arrested Erick Escamilla, 27, in connection with the murder of Menashe Hidra, whose body was discovered after neighbors reported hearing a struggle. The police investigated multiple calls from residents before finding Hidra three days later during a welfare check. Escamilla was caught following a manhunt, having narrowly evaded capture prior. The LAPD stated there is currently no connection between Hidra's murder and any other killings, despite public concern about a serial killer at large.
LAPD investigators finally caught up with Escamilla after tracking his whereabouts and narrowly missing him at least once in the last week.
Three days before, neighbors had called 911 and reported hearing shouting and a struggle coming from the apartment.
Escamilla was arrested Thursday evening on suspicion of murder after a regional manhunt following the killing that sparked fear in residents.
Prior to the latest allegations, Escamilla was facing misdemeanor charges in a February incident and was free on $10,000 bail.
