The UK government has launched a new £270 million 'Arts Everywhere Fund' aimed at supporting smaller museums at risk of closure or needing infrastructure repairs. Among the beneficiaries are the Museum of Water and Steam, which will receive £2.6 million to restore its Great Engine House, ensuring the building remains watertight, and the Foundling Museum, which is set to get £319,000 for necessary repairs. This fund commemorates the 60th anniversary of the first culture policy document published by the government.
The funding is vital and will be used to restore its Great Engine House, ensuring the building is watertight, said the director of the Museum of Water and Steam.
We're excited and delighted by the funding that will be used for long-overdue repairs to our unique building, which will make it safer, stronger, and more welcoming, noted the Foundling Museum's director.
