The UK's Consumer Markets Authority (CMA) is investigating Ticketmaster following a surge in ticket prices and complaints during the Oasis reunion tour ticket sale. The CMA found that Ticketmaster's 'platinum' tickets, sold at inflated prices, lacked proper labeling and consumer information, potentially misleading fans. Additionally, the sale process for standing room tickets raised concerns as cheaper options were sold first, leaving buyers frustrated. The CMA is in consultation with Ticketmaster to improve transparency and ensure consumers are well-informed for future ticket purchases.
We're concerned that Oasis fans didn't get the information they needed or may have been misled into buying tickets they thought were better than they were.
The results of the investigation warranted consulting with the ticketing platform on changes to ensure fans receive the right information, at the right time.
The CMA stated that Ticketmaster designated certain tickets as 'platinum,' selling them at more than twice the standard price without adequately informing consumers.
We're working with Ticketmaster to ensure this doesn't happen again and expect them to address these concerns.
