A recent survey by British Lion Eggs reveals a significant shift in British teatime preferences, particularly among Gen Z and Millennials. Traditional delights such as chocolate cake, Victoria sponge, and iced buns are increasingly viewed as 'outdated and unhealthy.' Instead, healthier snacks like Greek yoghurt, hard-boiled eggs, and carrots with hummus are gaining popularity, possibly influenced by social media health trends. The survey of 2,000 adults highlighted a desire for higher protein intake to aid in weight management and overall wellness, reshaping Britain's snack routine.
'It is clear to see from the research that health-conscious Brits are looking to change up their snack routine,' said a spokesperson for British Lion Eggs.
Amazingly, 31 per cent said they would not have chocolate cake - making it the least popular out of all the classic treats.
In all, 30 per cent said they wouldn't eat Victoria sponge, 30 per cent wouldn't want iced buns and 29 per cent would refuse cream buns.
Experts at British Lion Eggs surveyed 2,000 British adults aged between 18 and 40 - described as Gen Z and Millennials.
