Michelin adds six L.A. restaurants to its California guide. Look for the coveted stars next month
Briefly

As California draws nearer to the annual release of the Michelin Guide's top restaurants across the state, fans and followers of the global restaurant rating system can put a few more new businesses and star contenders on their 'to visit' lists. This week Michelin added six new L.A.-area restaurants to its statewide guide in advance of the announcement ceremony slated for next month.
Michelin is known for its star ratings, with one star signifying 'a very good restaurant in its category,' two stars for 'excellent cuisine, worth a detour,' and the coveted three stars for 'exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey.' The guide also recognizes value and affordable dining options alongside notable openings. The highly anticipated star ratings for the new additions will be unveiled at the upcoming ceremony on Aug. 5.
The recent inclusion of 13 California restaurants in the 2024 guide, with six from Los Angeles, reflects the diversity and innovation in the culinary scene. Restaurant owner Mike Santos expressed his surprise and honor at being considered for the prestigious guide, emphasizing the unexpected nature of the recognition.
"I'm this kid from a small town in Arizona so I never expected anything like this to happen to us," said executive chef Melissa López. This sentiment echoes the mix of surprise, gratitude, and dedication that restaurateurs feel when acknowledged by a global culinary authority like Michelin.
