Transport for London is deploying decorative posters behind platform benches at select Elizabeth line stations to prevent grease and dirt marks left by passengers. These posters, featuring silhouettes and moquette-inspired designs, are aimed at both protecting and visually enhancing the spaces behind seating areas while indicating priority seating. The initiative follows a review by TfL in 2024, which determined that this approach is the most effective and sustainable method to maintain the stations. Stations such as Bond Street and Farringdon will be part of the initial rollout.
TfL concluded the current solution was the most effective and sustainable option to ensure the stations withstood daily wear and tear.
The Elizabeth line has had a transformational effect since opening, providing new, accessible journey options for customers, including at new central London stations.
