Mr Braithwaite's 71-year-old wife Annetta was allegedly punched and suffered cuts to her head and face during the incident, which happened around midday.
Prosecutor Deanna Heer KC told the court the killing allegedly arose from a long-running neighbour dispute between the defendant and the deceased.
