Man charged with attempted murder after uniformed soldier stabbed near barracks

A man has been charged with attempted murder over the stabbing of an army officer outside a barracks in Kent. The soldier suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital after the attack in Sally Port Gardens in Gillingham.
Detectives charged Anthony Esan, 24, with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place after the soldier, in his 40s, suffered stab wounds. Esan was arrested near his home address in Rochester.
