The M11 was closed after a three-car crash that left one person injured, causing significant travel disruption and a traffic jam of around two miles.
Metropolitan Police officers responded to the incident shortly before noon, resulting in the northbound carriageway being shut for approximately two hours.
The closure of the M11 northbound affected traffic between junctions 4 and 5 at Loughton, with the road reopening around 2pm.
Although one individual sustained injuries in the crash, police confirmed that these injuries are not life-changing, involving the attendance of emergency services.
