Four arrested after stolen' van crashes into planter in Elmers End

In Elmers End, four individuals were arrested after crashing a stolen van into a large planter early in the morning on February 12. The incident occurred at 4.38am, leading to a significant blockage of Croydon Road for over six hours. The occupants, aged between 18 and 26, attempted to flee the scene but were apprehended by police. On Wednesday (February 12) at 4.38am, officers were called to Croydon Road, Beckenham to reports of a van travelling at speed, which then collided with a large planter.
The occupants of the vehicle attempted to run away, however, officers apprehended and then arrested the driver and three passengers on suspicion of vehicle theft.
Croydon Road remained blocked for over six hours until it reopened at around 10.40am.
Those inside the car then reportedly tried to run away, but they were caught by police.
