One of Santa Monica's Best Restaurants Is Closing After Nearly a Decade
Briefly

Cassia, a celebrated Southeast Asian restaurant in Santa Monica, will close on February 22, 2025, after nearly ten years of operation. Owners Bryant Ng and Kim Luu-Ng cited rising operational costs, entertainment strikes, and fires as challenges exacerbated by the pandemic. Known for its innovative blend of Southeast Asian and Californian cuisine, Cassia gained acclaim, including a prestigious three-star review from former New York Times critic Pete Wells. While the restaurant is closing, Ng and Luu-Ng are planning a new venture, Jade Rabbit, set to open in early 2025 in Santa Monica.
We were fortunate to survive the pandemic and have enjoyed our wonderful 10-year run, but like many restaurants, we faced new challenges over the past few years.
Although this chapter is coming to a close, the story of Cassia, and the incredible team behind it, will live on in the memories of everyone who walked through our doors.
