Rashida Holmes incorporates traditional Caribbean flavors into modern dishes in her first bricks-and-mortar restaurant, Bridgetown Roti, in East Hollywood.
Holmes aims to bring new ideas into traditional Caribbean cuisine by making the dishes her own while paying tribute to the food she grew up loving, like her mom's fried fish and curry chicken.
The journey of establishing Bridgetown Roti involved running a pop-up out of Holmes's house with her wife, Shanika, before finally opening the physical restaurant in East Hollywood after years of hard work and support from various contributors.
The menu at Bridgetown Roti features a range of dishes, from roti with fillings like chicken curry and curried shrimp, to patties bursting with flavors like oxtail and eggplant, and a selection of traditional Caribbean items alongside more modern creations.
