When Jiyoon Jang opened Modu, she didn’t anticipate her popularity. Initially starting with 200 pastries, demand surged to 400 on weekends, selling out fast.
On the opening day, lines stretched out the door. ‘Saturday was just survival,’ Jang said, emphasizing the overwhelming demand that outpaced her staff.
Due to the extraordinary demand for her pastries, Modu instituted a limit of four pastries per customer to manage inventory effectively.
Jang’s journey began unexpectedly after graduation in 2020 when she tried baking during lockdown, leading her to explore and perfect her craft through countless tutorials.
