Nobody likes to feel that something big has been elided. Transparency is the ideal in close relationships. We all fall short of that ideal, especially in the early dating stages.
In early stages, most conceal how much they want to be liked and other 'warts.' Concealing some aspects is common, but not disclosing a whole extra family is significant.
