According to an LCBO news release, non-alcoholic beverages saw a 73 per cent sales increase this year compared to 2023 and a 189 per cent increase compared to 2022. The LCBO's product range in this category includes beer, cider, wine, and spirits, which has resonated with consumers looking for quality no-alcohol alternatives.
Alanna Bailey, the LCBO's senior director of spirits, noted, 'We are seeing great innovation in the [non-alcoholic] space. You're basically not sacrificing any of the taste and they're very similar to their other products.' This suggests a significant shift in the market towards more appealing non-alcoholic options.
Sarah Kate, founder of Some Good Clean Fun, emphasized the growth of non-alcoholic beverages: 'Three years later, the category has completely exploded to the point where you can now go to your local store and find a variety of zero-proof alternatives.' This indicates a cultural shift toward alcohol moderation driven by wellness and lifestyle changes.
