Eating dark chocolate has been associated with a reduced risk of developing Type 2 diabetes, according to a new study published in The BMJ.
While the research did not confirm that chocolate is a direct cause of reduced diabetes risk, it correlates with healthier lifestyle factors among those who consume it.
Dr. Qi Sun noted that the findings suggest a little dark chocolate can be included in a healthy diet without being a miracle solution.
The study followed over 190,000 health professionals for up to 34 years and adjusted for lifestyle factors, solidifying the link between chocolate consumption and diabetes risk.
