This charming new electrical outlet looks like a smiley face
Briefly

Architect India Mahdavi, in collaboration with 22 System, reimagines electrical outlets as design statements through vibrant colors, notably a cheerful fluorescent yellow. By celebrating the visibility of outlets rather than concealing them, she invites a new appreciation for everyday objects. This perspective shift, catalyzed by the pandemic, emphasizes personal connection to design, inviting consumers to explore narrative and emotion behind functional items, challenging conventions around domestic spaces. Mahdavi's work aims to transform how we interact with and perceive these commonly overlooked features in our homes.
"How could we perceive it differently, perceive it in a more homey, familiar, and maybe more feminine way? Instead of having these technical, sophisticated elements, how can you make them your own?" Mahdavi says.
Mahdavi wanted something that could stand out even in the dark. Instead of concealing the outlets, as people typically do, she aimed to celebrate them.
